Budget o Budget!!!

After a pragmatic railway budget by Mr laloo prasad, its time for Mr P.Chidambram to present the General Budget 2008-2009......
With polls scheduled next year, the finance minister could not afford to present a harsh budget but he has done just the opposite--he has given the nation a budget that lays more emphasis on the rural India without keeping the corporate India in cold....It is a budget for farmers, especially those who are reeling under the load of instituional debt..The finance minister has announced complete waiver of instituional debt amounting to a whooping Rs 50,000 crore pending against small and medium farmers owning land less than 5 hectares......
This is the biggest ever loan waiver scheme at the national level!!! No doubt, the finance minister deserves a hats off!
Another scheme introduced is the OTS i.e One Time Settlement facility, which will cost the govt another Rs 10,000 crore and under which 25% rebate will be given to farmers owning land greater than 5 hectares....Around one crore farmers are expected to be benefitted fro this scheme.....Considering the plightful state of the farmers of the country, these measures are set to act as an instant relief for them...Truly, the centre has done more than its duty to farmers.....

The tax slabs have also been restructured and the new proposals will give a minimum benefit of atleast Rs 4000 to every taxpayer..Senior citizen will pay no tax upto Rs 2.5 lakh and women upto Rs 1.8 lakh.
The education and health departments too have received a boost with a 20 % and 15% increase in allocation respectively as compared to previous year..3 new IIT's and 16 central universities will be set up....
The commodities that have become cheaper include two , three and four wheelers, life saving drugs, jewellery( The women too have a reson to rejoice!!!!hehe), water purification items and a lot more while we will have to shell out a few extra bucks for mobiles, packaged software , cigarettes, etc....
Employement oppurtunities for ex-servicemen in the banking sector acts as the cherry on the cake...Ex-servicemen, who depend largely on the pension or the interest money now have a reson to smile, thanks to the new scheme.........

So overall it is a people friendly budget (From India to Bharat as has been called by editors in today's newspapers)..lets expect that the finance minister keeps up the momentum, till the elections atleast......

Be childlike...not childish......

So i am finally done with exams..........pheeeeww...this phase can be irritating sometimes....but now as it has elapsed, its time to rock and roll baby!!!!!!(ok ok ho gaya...hehe)
I would like to share something which my dad discussed with me today with you guys...I think its very interesting....
Dad back from work , and there we were having dinner together....He is so fond of books that i sometimes ask him to read some of my text books and explain me something out of them!!
He started telling a story about a poor man who lived just adjacent to a shahi hotel....The poor man was daily so mesmerized by the aroma of the delicious food cooking in that hotel that he used to come outside his hut with his simple food and enjoy it while inhaling the aroma of the 5 star food..
One month passed and the hotel manager came to this man and handed him a bill for the mouth watering aroma he inhaled for the month..

Now the poor man went inside and came out with a old box in which he used to keep his coins and went close to the manager and shaking the box close to the manager's ears he said "Here's the payment.."
This is one of the tales from the book(naam ni pata yaar...par badi ghent hai..) i spent one hour reading today....
Once a Zen master calls all his monks together for the selection of a chief for the new monastery...He places a jar filed with water on the ground and says "Say something about this jar full of water without using its name.."
The chief monk, who was hopeful of getting the position said "no one can call it a wooden shoe.."
Another said" it cannot be called a pond because it can be carried by hand.."
Suddenly then, the cook came, kicked the jar and walked away.....
The master said" the cook has been chosen as the chief of the new monastery"....

ok ok....i know its difficult to make head or tail out of this story, but the part that followed this epitome was enlightening..
What the master meant by saying that say something about this jar full of water without using its name was that he wanted the monks to describe the thing without using mind, without using language, without using its name....sounds stupid..rite????How can something be described without using mind???How can something be described without using language????
Mind requires language to describe something, without language, everything seems to be paralyzed..isn't it???We have the habit of premeditating.....But doesn't it sound real when i say that life is so spontaneous.....everything that is planned is dead......The river, the birds , they are so spontaneous........In the morning, the river flows reflecting the gold color of the sun, it has a different mood during the evening ......so spontaneous.... What is the essence of life if it is preplanned??
We ruin our present deciding for the future despite the fact that life is spontaneous...u never know what happens next??Anything planned is past....Future is spontaneous.....

Thats exactly what the zen master wanted his monks to do..to respond spontaneously.....not some preplanned answers from the scriptures or something like that......Only the cook understood the essence of the problem....How can something be described without using language???Its so absurd...Something can be done(action) without language, but how can something be described without it??So he went , kicked the jar and went away....Actually he kicked the whole problem as if saying what is this nonsense??I don't belong to this place.....he acted spontaneously......So thats todays message.....be childlike, not childish..How happy we people feel when we see a child playing..acting so spontaneously that we get so absorbed in his childlike activities forgetting all the tensions in life..................................
I think the one hour spent was worth it..I have tried to express what i read in the best possible way i could, but plz keep the comments coming.......Gud nite.....

Well....its my first blog...so kindly bear with me bcoz i dont promise to make this one very interesting, catchy, etc etc....so here i go....
ummmm.....Starting with something about me..well, i am deepak(common name: bhalu(dont even know who kept this name for me and WHY......hehe ...also dont know why but the popularity of this name has somewhat reduced drastically....vaise acha hai mere liye to!!!) currently pursuing mechanical engineering from Thapar University, Patiala(didnt have much of a option ...with an all India rank 12862 in AIEEE and not able to crack JEE....so here i am..In thapar..called as The Patiala jail by its inmates....hehe)..
Lag raha hai ki kuch zyada hi neeche laga diya hai maine thapar ko....vaise aisi bhi koi baat nahi..achi khaasi university hai...:D:D
Elaborating more on the jail thing, let me tell u ki seriously yaar, jail hi hai...one feels as if he is being punished for the wrong deeds(if any...:P) he committed in his previous life....jam packed schedule, inactive societies, far too strict rules and regulations, lack of proper infrastructure to accomodate the heavy intake, etc etc....
But as they say every cloud has a silver lining---This institute is one of the most sought after and no doubt, it is chugging up the ranking list.......
Hey hey i earlier said i dont promise to make this one intersting, so kindly bear with this immature blogger...But i promise to improve with every post...:)
Hmm..i think enough has been said about Thapar...So now i am in 2nd year...Having learnt a lot from my previous semesters(my subsequent posts will tell u what exactly), it has become quite easy to manage the stress this university loads you with...
As i go down the memory lane(zyada door ni jaana, first year ki baat hi hai..hehe), i remember moments i cherish so much....in second semester we had a subject called Manufacturing Processes (Manpro as it is popularly known)..credits-4.0(so you can imagine its importance).....
Me, daman, adi and digvijay, we attended 3,2,2,2 lectures of this course respectively....Yes i attended 3(just one more guys...it was just one more than the other three) but they(daman, adi and digvijay) got so angry(oye tu ikk lecture faaltu laa kiven litta...kiven laaya??their voice still echoes in my mind)...so i spent the whole day carrying their bags and guess what.....i had to even give them a treat for disturbing the homogenity of the number of lectures!!!!!!hahaha...it was so much fun...and Thank God, the course instructor did not detain anyone for short attendance...

Chalo, time to get the syllabus(actually i have an exam tomorrow---Dynamics of machines, didnt understand kinematics of machines, ab yeh dynamic pata nahi kahan se aa gaya....)...Kindly comment......bbyeee.......Gud nite.......
